William "Bill" Quinn

September 25, 1932 ~ February 12, 2015 (age 82) 82 Years Old

William Joseph “Bill” Quinn, of West Chester, passed away at the age of 82 at Paoli Hospital.  He was born in Hampstead Long Island.  Bill was a graduate of Bishop Loughlin High School in Brooklyn, NY where he was a champion swimmer going two years without being defeated in the city of NY.  He attended Villanova University on a Navy Scholarship where he was the school’s first captain of the swim team.

Bill served his country as part of the first generation of jet fighter pilots serving for four years on the USS Intrepid followed by 12 years of reserve duty out of Willow Grove Air Base.

A born storyteller and salesman, he founded William J. Quinn, Inc. which for a period of years sold one third of all the flour milled in the US as he crisscrossed the country flying his beloved 15-50 whiskey.  At the height of his career he represented 16 flour mills across the US.

An avid golfer and member of Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, he traveled the world playing golf with frequent tours to Ireland and Scotland, the highlight of which was playing his favorite courses with his sons.

Second only to his love of golf was his love for airplanes and motorcycles continuing to ride much to his family’s consternation right up to his passing.

He was the proud son of the late Harry J. Quinn and Viola Helen Quinn.

He is survived by his patient and loving wife of 58 years Christina Gunther Quinn.  Their children Christina Quinn Lentz (Michael), Colonal William J. Quinn, MD (Rebecca), Timothy T. Quinn (Jennifer), Thomas P. Quinn (Susan), grandchildren, Christina Lentz, Michael Lentz, Caitilin Lentz, William Lentz, Timothy Spencer Quinn, Sarah Quinn, Nathaniel Quinn, Samantha Quinn, and his German Shepherd, Abigail.
