Francis M. "Pidge" Polito of West Chester.

Francis M. "Pidge" Polito, 74 of West Chester, PA, passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at Thomas Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia, PA.

He was the husband of Elaine Best Polito.

Born February 14, 1943 in West Chester, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph Rosario Polito Sr. and the late Rose Concetta Terrizzi Polito.

Pidge proudly served in the Marine Corps.

He was a driver for Good Fellowship Ambulance Club in West Chester, and was a Police Officer with West Goshen Township, as well as other Police Departments.

Pidge was a member of St. Agnes Church in West Chester, a lifetime member of the First West Chester Fire Department, and a member of the Chester County Civil Defense. He was also a former Past President of the Chester County FOP.  

Pidge was an original organizer of the Old Fashion Christmas Parade. In 1962, he received a Presidential Commendation from then President John F. Kennedy, for saving the life of a woman from a burning building. 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Michael J. Polito, Toni Krakower and her husband Dave; grandchildren, Bella and Siena; siblings, Anthony J. Polito and his wife Carolyn, and Mary Lou Enoches and her husband Jack.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Joseph R. Polito Jr., and Florine Simpson.

Relatives and Friends are invited to his visitation on Friday, August 18, 2017 from 9:00-10:00 am at St. Agnes Church, 233 W. Gay St., West Chester, PA 19380; followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:00 am.  

Interment will be held in St. Agnes Cemetery, West Chester.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First West Chester Fire Company, 70 S. Bradford Ave. West Chester, PA 19382 and/or Good Fellowship Ambulance Club, PO Box 361, West Chester, PA 19381.
