1984-2017

Katherine Pandel Speicher of West Chester.

Katherine Pandel Speicher, 33, beloved daughter, sister and wife, died unexpectedly on Saturday, September 9th at the home of her parents in West Chester, Pa.

An artist at heart, Katherine was a graduate of West Chester University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Graphic Arts. She received the Dean’s Award for excellence in her field of study upon graduation. Katherine’s creativity led her to numerous jobs in her field of study. In addition, she created all the invitations, decorations, floral containers, and so much more for her 2009 marriage to Matthew Blaine Speicher. Additionally, she earned her Bachelor’s degree from Immaculata University in elementary education.

She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Praxiteles (Robin) Pandel, her brother, Praxiteles Telly Pandel, her husband, Matthew Speicher, her Mother-in-law, Betty Speicher and her beloved Boston Terrier, Jackson. Two paternal Aunts and one Uncle also survive Katherine, Mrs. Katherine Kotun and Mrs. Stella Neuschwander who reside in the Pittsburgh area and Mr. Michael Pandel from Youngstown, Ohio. Katherine is also survived by many cousins from the Pittsburgh and New York State area in addition to the finest Godparents a child could have; Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Patukas, from Coatesville, PA.

Katherine was predeceased by her paternal Aunt, Mrs. Pauline Magoulakis (OH), maternal Uncles, Mr. Dale McEwan (NYS) and Joseph McEwan, Jr. (NC). Most importantly forming her life was the unconditional love she received from her Maternal Grandmother, Mrs. Ruth McEwan who predeceased Katherine in 2007. Katherine adored her Grandma Ruth. They shared a relationship all children should have the privilege to realize growing up. It is her parents fervant hope that Katherine was guided to the Kingdom of Heaven by her Guardian Angel on Earth and in Heaven, her Grandma Ruth.

For those wishing to pay their respects, the family will bid farewell to their beautiful Katherine on Friday, September 15th at Saint George Greek Orthodox Church, 30 E. Old Forge Rd. Media, Pa. 19063, with Reverend Father Anastasios Bourantas officiating. Viewing will be held from 9:30 to 11:00am in the church. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00am with interment following shortly after at Green Mount Cemetery, 117 Westtown Road, West Chester, PA 19382.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be sent to the Saint George Memorial Building Fund, Attn. Rev. Father Anastasios Boutantas, at the above church address. Please include a note earmarking your contribution to the fund in remembrance of Katherine Pandel Speicher. Katherine was Baptized at St. George; learned about the religion she loved while attending Sunday School there, and about her Greek Heritage and language while attending Greek School. Katherine loved her church, and it would please her to be a part of improving St. George Church for all who attend now and in the future.

As mentioned above, Katherine loved her Boston Terrier, Jackson, given to her by her parents. He was her baby boy, and she treated him as though he were her child. She was predeceased by her Guinea pig, Oreo and she and Matt’s first cat together, Christos. She had a special magnetism that animals were drawn to. Her four-legged babies shared an equal importance in Katherine’s heart. For those wishing a contribution to an SPCA of your choice in Katherine’s name would be a welcomed tribute as well.
