My condolences & sympathy to the family on your loss.
My Dad, Thomas Diffley, was a shipmate of Mr. Valentino's aboard the USS Oberon in World War 2. Dad passed on January1, 2017, age 91.
I found an article on-line about Mr. Valentino's War Memories written by Gail Guterl from the Historical Commission along with photos of the USS Oberon. My Dad served an Electrician's Mate Second Class from 1943-1946.
They were both proud Americans and served their Country. Their memories of the USS Oberon were very similar. Reading the article helped me recall many of my Dad's stories aboard the ship and the War. I will keep the article with my Dad's files.
I pray and know that God blesses them both always.
