John "Dugan" Dowlin

John W. "Dugan" Dowlin of West Chester.

John W. "Dugan" Dowlin, of West Chester, died Saturday, July 11, 2015 at the Brandywine Hall Care Center in West Chester.

Born November 2, 1925 in West Chester, he was the son of the late Jesse Dowlin and the late Ella Mae Barnes Dowlin.

John had worked as a gas station attendant for Davis Oil Company.

Dugan was a life member of 1st West Chester Fire Company, where he spent most of his days.  He was also a member of the Elks Lodge 853 and VFW Post 106.

He was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan who enjoyed sitting on his porch with his dogs and walking them to the fire station.

Dugan was a WWII Army Veteran serving in the 258 Engineer Combat Battalion, building bridges across Germany and France. He was very proud and honored to have made over 60 reunions during his life. 

He is survived by his sister, Florence L. Davidson of West Chester, nieces, Patricia Doran and her husband Terry of West Chester, Pam DellaPenna and her husband Steve of Wagontown, and three great nieces and three great nephew.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Xedus.

Relatives and Friends are invited to his Funeral Service at 11am on Friday, July 17, 2015 at the DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home, Inc. 410 North Church Street, West Chester, PA 19380; 610-696-1181, www.DellaFH.com.  

Visitations will be held from 6-8 pm Thursday, July 16, 2015 and also from 10-11am Friday, July 17, 2015 at the Funeral Home.

Interment will be held at the Green Mount Cemetery in West Chester.
