Garo Sarkis Yepremian

Garo Sarkis Yepremian died Friday, May 15, 2015, in Media, PA, after a one year long battle with High Grade Neuroendocrine cancer. 

Garo was the husband of Maritza (Javian) Yepremian, of Philadelphia, with whom he shared 44 years of marriage.

Born June 2, 1944 in Larnaca, Cyprus, he was the son of the late Sarkis Yepremian and the late Azadouhi (Shirinian) Yepremian.

Garo was an NFL All Pro placekicker for 15 years, playing for the Detroit Lions, Miami Dolphins, New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. 

Garo very proudly served his beloved country with the Army and National Guard as Sergeant during the Vietnam era.

He was also a renowned motivational speaker, Spokesperson for Laser Spine Institute and Co-Founder of the Garo Yepremian Foundation for Brain Tumor / Cancer Research.

Garo is survived by his son, Garo Sarkis Yepremian Jr., and daughter in law, Rebecca, grandsons Garo III (6) and Noah (3), and his son Azad Vartan Yepremian and daughter in law, Erika, and granddaughters Annabella (3) and Amelia (1).

Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at St. Sahag and St. Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church, 630 Clothier Road, Wynnewood, PA.

Interment will be private.
