Joseph D. Valentino, 94 of West Chester, PA died Saturday, July 16, 2016 at home.
He was the husband of the late Rose M. Sicoli Valentino with whom he married in 1948.
Born September 9, 1921 in Philadelphia, PA he was the son of the late Luigi Valentino and the late Carrie Bruno Valentino.
He attended Thorndale and Downingtown Schools while growing up.
Prior to retirement, Joe worked as a Boiler Mechanic for Sonoco Paper Company in Downingtown for 43 years.
Joseph serve his country during WW II for the US Navy in the Amphibian Forces. He was in the European and Asiatic Theatre and received the commendation medal with 6 battle stars, serving from 1942-1945.
He was a member of St. Agnes Church, American Legion Post #134, AARP, West Chester Area Senior Center and St. Anthony’s Lodge in Downingtown.
Joe enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
He is survived by many loving nieces, nephews and great nieces.
He was predeceased by his siblings, Louis Valentino, Josephine Valentino, Edith DeDominic and Julia Love.
Relatives and Friends are invited to his visitation Thursday, July 21, 2016 from 9:00-10:00 am at St. Agnes Church, 233 W. Gay St. West Chester, PA 19380; followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:00 am.
Interment will be held in St. Joseph Cemetery, Downingtown.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Agnes Church at the above address.
