William Owen Dalton

William Owen Dalton, 87 of Chadds Ford, PA passed away Sunday, October 1, 2023, peacefully in his home. 

Beloved husband, father, and grandfather, he was born on December 29th, 1935, in Mound City, Illinois.  He was the son of the late William Bearl Dalton and Nancy Olive Dalton.

Bill enlisted in the Marine Corps out of high school and rose to the rank of Sergeant, serving in the Korean War.  He left the service to attend college via the G.I. Bill.

Bill received his bachelor’s and PhD in physical chemistry from the University of Illinois.  He met his wife Barbara Kay Dalton during a summer on campus.  He had a successful career in research and management in several international chemical companies.

Bill and his wife Barbara were residents of Chadds Ford for over 35 years even after he retired from his position as SVP of Research and Development at Himont Inc.

Bill is survived by his son, John, brother David, sister Charlotte, as well as daughter-in-law Erin, and two grandchildren, Callan and Holden.

Relatives and friends are invited to the DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home, Inc. 410 North Church St. West Chester, PA 610-696-1181, www.DellaFH.com for a visitation on Saturday, November 11, 2023, from 9:30-10:15am, followed by his celebration of life at 10:30. Interment will be private.
