Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and immense love that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of our beloved William Francis Finnerty on August 3, 2025. Billy’s bright blue eyes, gentle heart and infectious smile touched everyone he met in his short and healthy eighteen months with us, leaving behind a legacy of light far beyond his years.

He is survived by his devoted parents, John and Kelly Finnerty, two loving sisters, Katie and Mary, his cherished twin brother Tommy, and his loyal dog brothers Jake and Elwood who watched over him with gentle affection.

Billy is also survived by his proud grandparents Kevin and Carol Bruton, and Kathleen Finnerty; nine first cousins who shared in his playful spirit; and countless aunts, uncles, and extended family who were blessed to know and love him. Predeceasing and welcoming Billy into heaven with caring arms are his paternal grandfather “Poppy” George Finnerty and his namesake, maternal great grandfather William Bruton amongst many other members of the Finnerty and Bruton extended families gone before us. Though Billy's time with us was heartbreakingly short, his light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who loved him.

In honor of his memory, we ask that you hold your loved ones a little closer today. Life is fragile, and every moment is a gift. May we carry on the love Billy brought into our lives by living each day with tenderness, gratitude, and grace.

Relatives and friends are invited to the services and encouraged to wear blue or other vibrant colors to celebrate Billy’s bright spirit and beautiful blue eyes.

Visitation will be on Monday, August 11, 2025 from 8:00 am - 10:45 am at the St. Agnes Church 233 W. Gay St. West Chester, PA 19380; followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. Live streaming can be accessed HERE.  Burial will follow Funeral Mass at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery at 1600 S Sproul Rd, Springfield, PA 19064.
