William E. Gale, Jr., 88, of West Chester, died suddenly on May 29th, 2021.
He was the husband of Margaret “Peggy” (Purcell) Gale. Born in Sugartown, Willistown Twp., the son of Frances (Brown) and William E. Gale, Sr., Bill was a graduate of West Chester High School, class of 1950. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955, stationed in Germany.
He was a technician for Bell Telephone, (later AT&T), from 1957-1985, and also worked in the Communication Dept. at the County of Chester for many years. He enjoyed all things mechanical, especially rebuilding automobile engines.
He started his day at the D. K. Diner almost every morning, where he was always willing to share his thoughts. Until recently, he could often be seen running or walking the cross-country trails at West Chester University.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: William, Michael, Thomas, Matthew, and Julianne McCarthy; 7 grandchildren; and his sister, Carol Phiel.
He was predeceased by his sister, Elaine Deaver.
