Vivian S. Carlow

Vivian S. Carlow of West Chester, PA, beloved wife of the late Joseph F. Carlow, M.D., passed away peacefully in her sleep early on Sunday morning, July 24, 2022.

Born in Chester, PA, Vivian was the daughter of the late Jennie L. and Andrew J. Boyle.  She was preceded in death by sisters Mary Boyle & Evelyn Caruso and brother Edwin Boyle.

Vivian was a graduate of Chester High School, American Institute of Banking in Philadelphia, The Keystone Secretarial School in Swarthmore, and later continued classes at Widener University (OLLI) in Exton, PA.

Prior to her marriage, she was an Executive Secretary with the E.I. duPont Company in Wilmington, DE and later The Atomic Energy Commission in Washington, D.C. while her husband attended Georgetown University School of Medicine.

Vivian was a former officer of the Women’s Auxiliary to the Chester County Medical Society and was active on Committees for The Chester County Hospital May Festival and Chester County Day (CCD).   She was a CCD greeter for over 30 years and a member of the Westtown Auxiliary to The Chester County Hospital.

Vivian was a beautiful, graceful, fashionable and fun-loving woman whose smile and laughter lit up every room and every person she touched.  She was a devoted and loving wife to her Joe for 49 years before his passing in 2004. Vivian enjoyed so much in life, including spending summers in Avalon, NJ, playing tennis, watching football, travelling the world, and attending her children’s and grandchildren’s various sporting events. She especially loved spending time with her beloved family, making delicious meals and wonderful, fun-filled memories.

Vivian is survived by sons Jeffrey, Michael and Steven (Sherri), daughter Janis, and her delightful grandchildren, Demming, Logan, Salem, Ava, Alyssa, Ana and Mia, who all affectionately called her “V V”.

Relatives and friends are invited to her visitations on Thursday, July 28, 2022 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home, Inc. 410 North Church Street West Chester, PA 19380, and on Friday, July 29, 2022 from 9:30 am - 10:15 am at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church; 15 East Pleasant Grove Rd West Chester, PA 19382; followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:30 am
