Vincent Anthony Catrambone, 85, of West Chester, PA, passed away on January 13, 2025, after a lengthy illness.
Vincent was born on November 8, 1939, to Vincent and Antoinette Catrambone in Wyndmoor, PA. After graduating from Roman Catholic High School in 1957, he immediately began a full-time job working in a local hardware store before embarking on what would become his lifelong career in sales and distribution for several major oil companies.
In 1958, Vince met MaryEllen Mannis at a Holy Cross dance in Mt. Airy. They married on September 14, 1963, and went on to have three children: Vincent James, Lynn Marie, and Stephen Anthony.
Though he never fully retired, Vince thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of his role as Vice President of Sales and Distribution and valued the relationships he built with his customers. He was active in several organizations, including the Men of Malvern, the Alumni Association of Roman Catholic High School, and various church groups.
One of Vince’s favorite stories was his “claim to fame” as a season ticket holder with the Philadelphia Eagles. He proudly shared that he opened and closed Veterans Stadium, holding as many as 22 tickets at one time from 1971 until passing them along to his son in 2010. A handy man with an inventive mind, Vince was always eager to tackle household repairs or create unique contraptions that only he knew how to operate. Known as "Uncle Sonny" to his nieces and nephews, he was always available to lend a helping hand at a moment’s notice.
Vince cherished spending time with his wife of 61 years, whether dining out, attending church, visiting family and friends, traveling to countless states and countries, or simply binge-watching a favorite show. His greatest joy came from his grandchildren, who adored visiting their Pop-Pop. Together, they watched games and shows, shared laughter, and even exchanged playful sarcasm. He even loved when they would change his automatic text reply for “Yes” to “Have you seen my pet Turkey?”. Pop-Pop delighted in attending their events and often boasted about their accomplishments.
Vince was predeceased by his parents, Vincent and Antoinette; his sisters, Rosemary, Katherine, and Antoinette (Dolly); his brother, Dominic; and his in-laws, Fred and Helen Mannis. He is survived by his loving wife, MaryEllen, and his children: Vincent (Toby), LynnMarie (Severo), and Stephen (Jenna). He is also survived by his grandchildren: Hayley (Jamie), Shauna, Dominic, Erica (Seth), Morgan, Gabe, and Zachary; his beloved sister, Vinnie; and Philly, the family ferret, who greeted him every morning with anticipation for her duck soup.
Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Friday, January 17, 2025 from 9:00 am - 10:45 am at St. Agnes Church 233 W. Gay St. West Chester, PA 19380, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. A reception will follow, with details provided at the service.
Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Malvern Retreat House, 315 S. Warren Ave, Malvern, PA 19355, an organization Vince attended and supported for over 40 years.
