It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas Ronald Smith, better known as Tom or Tommy Smith. Tom was born on February 17th, 1978 and passed peacefully with loved ones by his side on October 10th, 2025. He lived loud, he loved hard and he stood true.
Tom was preceded in death by his father George R. Smith II, his mother Ann H. Smith and many other loved ones whom he has been reunited with in heaven. He is survived by his sister Terri Smith-Braun, brother-in-law Nicholas Braun, niece Freya Braun and nephew Nova Braun.
Tom was most proud of his company, Ronald Smith Inc., an excavation company with crane services in Downingtown, PA. He began working alongside his father learning the ropes at a young age and took ownership in 2018. Tom was the Vice President/Trustee of The Eagles Home Association of West Chester, PA. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Lodge in Downingtown, PA. Tom was born and raised a diehard Eagles and Phillies fan! He enjoyed going to games and cheering his teams on! Tom has been a rider on Lamplighters Express Eagles Bus since he went to his first game 40 years ago. At a young age, Tom was a member of the Boy Scouts of America and played softball with Exton Little League. He continued playing softball as an adult. He played for Jitters, Chester County Slow Pitch, County Church Softball, West Chester Modified and Chester Springs Community Church. Tom’s passion for motors and machines began early. The faster and louder, the better! He raced alcohol-powered go carts as a teen. He also enjoyed skiing and was an avid fisherman and hunter his entire life. He had taken an interest in golfing in the last decade.
Tommy, your battle is over, your soul is free. Walk on home, and we will see you on the other side. In this life he gave us guidance, courage, laughter, opportunity, love and loyalty. The memories remain… forever family. He lived life to the fullest and stood tall throughout the storms. He fought his battles with honor and carried others when they couldn’t stand. His strength was real, his heart was true and his love will outlive us all.
Family by blood or bond, it made no difference. If he called you a friend, you were part of his tribe forever. A hug in memory form with comforting presence. A gentle soul, with a rowdy side, but always a heart of gold.
This isn’t goodbye, just a promise: We’ll see you on the other side.
A celebration of life will be held at Downingtown Country Club, Downingtown PA on November 14, 2025 from 11:00am-2:30pm. Please come ready to share your favorite Tommy story with his tribe!
