Obituary

Terry William Campbell, of West Chester, PA, passed away Friday, January 9, 2025, at Granite Farms Estates in Media. He was 86 years old.

He was the beloved husband for 65 years, of Margaret Jane Campbell.

Born December 23, 1939, in Bellaire, OH, he was the son of the late Chester Campbell and the late Eleanor (O’Donnell) Campbell.

Terry grew up in Bellaire, Ohio, and was a graduate of Bellaire, St. John’s High School. He later attended Wheeling Jesuit College.

Terry married his high school sweetheart in 1960 at St Joseph’s Parish in Tiltonsville, OH, with whom he shared a full and blessed life.

Currently a member of SS Philip & James Church, Exton, Terry was a life-long Catholic and active in the Church. He served in the Holy Name Society, participated in many Church events and devotions, and attended daily mass. His gentle demeanor, quiet confidence and steadfast faith were a reflection of his love of Christ.

Terry worked in the steel industry, first as a lineman in the plants, and then as a Salesperson in the steel fabrication business. Company moves took Terry and his family to Pittsburgh, PA (1970-1974), Wheeling, WV (1974-1978) and West Chester, PA (1978-present). He was employed by Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel for most of his career, until he established Atlantic Steel and Culvert Company in Tinicum, PA, in the 1980’s, in partnership with his brother-in-law. Terry retired from Cronotron Welding Systems, and worked part-time, during his retirement, for Matthews Ford in Paoli, PA.

Terry’s family was everything to him. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and great grandfather. He was blessed to have his children and grandchildren close by, so he attended countless milestones and parties celebrating birthdays, sacraments, weddings and holidays. He loved a good party!

Terry was a steady force in his family, taking an active role in raising his own children in the faith, coaching little league, attending recitals and taking memorable vacations. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. He helped immeasurably with babysitting, carpooling, dishwashing, diaper changing, attending sporting events and concerts, and going on vacations with them.

Terry kept impeccable properties, enjoyed yard work and could fix most things around the house. He taught all of his children these important life skills.

He played basketball in high school, and then in a men’s league with Pittsburgh friends. He enjoyed golfing and playing cards. He worked alongside his wife in the musical productions at Bishop Shanahan High School, where he managed set construction for more than 15 years. His desire to support young adults led him to serve as Treasurer and later President of Chester County Voices Abroad for 25 years, where he traveled extensively with his wife. Everyone who knew Terry, knows of his love for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

In addition to his wife, Margaret Jane Campbell, he is survived by his children, Terry Campbell (Lisa), Tim Campbell (Paula), Tammy Shields (Jim), and Todd Campbell (Jen); his grandchildren, Adam (Sarah), Josh (Emily), Dan, Lindsay, Kelsey (Derek), Eric, Marissa (Trevor), Stephanie (Tavis), Jack, Mary Kate, and Dan; his great-grandchildren, Nora, Sawyer, Weston, and Louisa, with two loving great-grandsons on the way; and his sister, JoAnn Orzolek.

He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Giana (Tim and Paula) and his parents, Chester and Eleanor Campbell.

Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Thursday, January 15, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home, Inc., 410 North Church Street, West Chester, PA 19380, and again on Friday, January 16, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM at SS.
