Teresa "Terry" Petrella Obituary

Terry Petrella passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, November 24. She was the wife of Art Petrella, with whom she shared 69 years of marriage. They were long-time residents of West Chester and parishioners of St. Agnes Church. Born and raised in Downingtown, Terry was the daughter of the late Rosalia and Emidio DiBerardinis.  

A member of the Chester County Art Association, Terry served as a Board member and was honored for her 30 years of volunteer work, including creating and planning more than 100 adventure trips.  She was Director Emeritus for both the Art Association and the West Chester YMCA, where she was a volunteer physical fitness instructor and coordinator for 25 years. Terry also was a long-time member of the West Chester Golf and Country Club and the Brandywine Racquet Club.

A past Board member of the West Chester Civic Association, she served as association member of the Philadelphia orchestra, member of the Philadelphia Art Museum, charter member of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, and member of the Chester County Historical Society.   

Terry is the mother of: Pamela Winning and William, of Phoenixville; Patricia Pegeron and Jean-Paul, of Ann Arbor, MI; Janice Lynch and James, of Garden City, NY; and a son, Thomas Petrella of Fullerton, CA. She also is grandmother to seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and sister of Mary Jo Tracy and husband, Thomas as well as sister-in-law of Antoinette Buchanan. In addition, she is survived by many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.  

Terry was predeceased by her husband, Art, daughter, Pamela Winning, sister, Rose Hendricks and husband, Edward, and brother Anthony and wife, Yolanda. She also was predeceased by her brother-in-law Vincent Petrella and wife Anita and brother-in-law Edward Buchanan.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of the Resurrection on Friday, December 10, 2021 at 10:00 at St. Agnes Church, 233 West Gay Street, West Chester, PA 19380. Live streaming will be available here: https://boxcast.tv/view/petrella-family-funeral-qzenwkt6upebwq2m8qbi

Interment will be at St. Agnes Cemetery, 1050 Pottstown Pike, West Chester, PA 19380.  

Terry was known by her family and friends for her boundless energy, generosity and creative spirit. Anyone who knew her was touched by her enthusiasm, kindness and love. She will be dearly missed.
