Susan Y. Edwards, 78, of West Grove, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at home on March 16, 2026.
Born in West Chester, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late J. Nelson and Ann L. Young. Susan shared 56 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Robert Edwards, who survives her.
Susan was a devoted mother to her two children, Melissa (Andrew) Glenn of Binghamton, New York, and Matthew Edwards of West Grove. She was also a proud and loving grandmother to Ethan and Serena Glenn.
Susan attended Bishop Shanahan High School and later West Chester University. She began her career as a teacher before transitioning into the insurance industry, where she worked as an insurance agent with Yerkes Insurance in West Grove.
Throughout her life, Susan was deeply committed to her community. She served on the Board of the Southern Chester County YMCA (Jennersville) and played an instrumental role in the initial efforts to bring a YMCA facility to the local area. She also served on the Board of the U.S. Ayrshire Breeders Association and was an active organizer of many Ayrshire events over the years. Susan was also a member of Assumption B.V.M. Parish in West Grove, serving in many roles when her children were in Catholic school.
Susan is survived by her sisters, Judy (Richard) Fincher and Barbara Rudy; her brother, Charles Young (Debra); her brothers-in-law Garry Cross, Bryan (Suzane) Edwards, and Kevin Edwards; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Ellen Cross; her brother-in-law Jerry Rudy; and her sister-in-law Pam Bried.
The family is deeply grateful for the compassionate care provided by Susan’s caregivers, including Kayla and Linda, as well as many others who supported her during her final days.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 from 9:00 AM - 10:15 AM at St. Agnes Church, 233 W. Gay St., West Chester, PA; followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM.
Interment will be held at St. Agnes Cemetery in West Chester, PA.
