Rutherford S. “Skip” Miller, Jr., 84, of Elverson, Pennsylvania, passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at his residence.
He was the beloved husband of Patti Tarr Miller with whom he would have shared 62 years of marriage in June 2026.
Born on August 5, 1941, in Darby, Pennsylvania, Skip was the son of Rutherford S. Miller, Sr. and Margaret Redmond Miller. He grew up in Springfield, Pennsylvania, and was a 1959 graduate of Monsignor Bonner High School.
Skip honorably served his country in the United States Army during peacetime from 1959 to 1962. Following his military service, he began a long and dedicated career with Red Arrow and Septa, where he worked as a lineman and electrician, as well as a Buildings Foreman until his retirement in 1996. After his retirement he joined his son, and eventually grandson, in the custom building business.
A man of many interests, Skip enjoyed golfing, hunting, vacationing in Kauaii, Hawaii and Townbank, New Jersey, and was an avid reader. Above all, he cherished spending time with his family. He was also proud of his contribution to restoring the historic 18th Century Tavern ‘Sign of the White Horse’, a National Historic landmark in East Whiteland Township, Pennsylvania.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Craig (Pam) Miller and Katherine (John) Sangerman, grandchildren, Matthew (Devon) Miller, Samantha (Tim) Wilkinson; and his great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Miller, Meredith Miller, Ryan Miller, Dean Ford Wilkinson, and Beau Wilkinson. He is also survived by his brother, William R. Miller (Rita); his sister, Dorothy Gambardella; and many nieces and nephews.
Services and interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
