Robert J. Lyng

Robert J. Lyng, age 93, of Marshallton, PA died peacefully on May 27, 2025 at his home.

Born in Lowville, NY, he was the son of Arthur J. and Kathleen P. Lyng. His early education was at Lowville Free Academy and he later graduated from Clarkson University with a degree in Chemical Engineering. After graduation he was employed by E.I.Dupont and in 1956 married Alma G. Kirch, also from Lowville, to whom he was married for almost 60 years until her death in 2016. 

While with DuPont he served in the Army and was discharged with the rank of Captain. During the years with DuPont, he and Alma spent many years in Latin America where he served as the manager of chemical factories in Mexico, Puerto Rico, Colombia and Brazil. 

He and Alma retired in 1988 to live in Marshallton, PA and both were active in local Marshallton organizations, the School of Music at Westchester University and were members of St. Agnes Catholic Church in West Chester, PA.

He is survived by his three children: Sarah (Boston, NY), Thomas (Albany, NY) and William Arthur (Phoenix, AZ). He is also survived by five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. 

Services and Internment will be private in the Bradford Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Friends of Martin's Tavern.
