In Loving Memory of Robert Edward Legg

It is with heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of Robert Edward Legg on September 12, 2025, at the age of 78. His last few months on this earth were met with health challenges that eventually were too much for him.

A Life of Purpose and Kindness

Robert, born on February 26, 1947, in Chester, Pennsylvania, was a beacon of warmth, wisdom, and quiet strength to all who knew him. From a young age, he exemplified dedication and resilience, his smile always lit up a room, growing up in a changing world and meeting each new challenge with a steady hand. His early years were shaped by a love of learning and a curiosity about the world that never left him.

His Father, William Henry Legg, passed away in 1951, when Robert was 4 years old. Raised by his mother (widowed), Mary Edna Legg (Davidson) with strong values of honesty and hard work, Robert was known for his unwavering integrity and generosity. He forged lifelong friendships and built a reputation for being someone who could always be counted on, whether for sage advice, a helping hand, or a listening ear. Sometimes, he was the person who told you the advice that you needed to hear, rather than wanted to hear.

Devoted Family Man

Of all the roles in his life, none were more precious to Robert than that of being a father, brother and family member, whether related by blood or love. He celebrated the joys and weathered the hardships of life with humility and grace, showing by example what it means to care deeply for one’s family. Through good times and bad, Robert’s presence was a source of comfort and stability—a guiding light for those he loved.

His children, Wesley (Elena Legg) and Clayton (Abby Homol) and grandchildren, Claire and Charles will remember him for the stories he told, the laughs they had, the gentle encouragement he gave, and the way he could make anyone feel comfortable in any situation. There was no obstacle too great, no problem too daunting, that could not be eased by Robert’s calm assurance and affectionate sense of humor.

Robert spent much of his life alongside his beloved sister, Harriet Ann Reynolds, who was widowed in 1995 and became an integral part of their family. Together, they created a home filled with warmth and mutual support. Through every season, Robert and Harriet remained each other’s closest confidant and dearest friend, sharing life’s ups and downs with unwavering loyalty.

Robert is also survived by his brother, William “Bill” Legg (Janet Legg), and his five nieces and nephews: Daniel Legg (Gwen Legg), David Legg, Peter Legg (Kim Jones), Andrea DeRose (Craig DeRose), and Jennifer Barry. He regularly spent time with his family during their gatherings.
