Obituary

Robert Bruce Fastuca, 67, of Venice, FL passed away Friday, July 26, 2024, at the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Facility in Atlantic City with his family by his side.

He was the loving husband of Monette Therese Craig Fastuca and the father of three sons, Louis, Joseph and Anthony, the father-in-law to Abby and grandfather to Mia.

Born April 1st, 1957, in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of Salvatore Edward Fastuca and Mary Elizabeth Palmer Fastuca.

Robert grew up in Lower Burrell, PA and graduated from Burrell High School where he excelled in football. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Pittsburgh, majoring in Economics. Robert was one of ten children and has remained extremely close to his large extended family as well as his ten high school friends and will be deeply missed.

He began his career in institutional sales at Federated Investors in Pittsburgh and San Francisco, later moving onto Lehman Brothers in Boston, MA. In 1994, after fourteen successful years, he decided to leave the workforce to focus on his family and manage his personal investments.

Robert believed strongly in helping others and volunteered each Wednesday at the St. Agnes Day Room, even after moving out of state, where the staff, volunteers and ‘clients’ grew very fond of him. Robert was committed to his Catholic faith and felt strongly about serving others, caring for the elderly and less fortunate, supporting our veterans, and being involved in his local community. Leading by example, he strived to instill his faith and these values of kindness and compassion in his children and family. He always went out of his way to make people feel like family, no matter who it was. Not only did he make the people he met feel welcomed and loved, he genuinely cared about them. He truly had a heart of gold and was a beautiful example of pure, unconditional love. Robert had a positive outlook on life and inspired others with his strong personality and infectious smile.

West Chester, Pennsylvania was the community he chose to call home and raise his family. He loved this community, especially the friends he made throughout the years at his children’s schools, their sporting events, and neighborhoods in which he lived. He made lasting friendships wherever he went.

Throughout his life, Robert spent some of his happiest hours at the beach fishing and watching the sunsets in Ocean City, NJ, and more recently in Venice, FL where he and Monette moved in 2023. Recently, he joined a boating club and was beginning to genuinely love being on the water. He was an avid supporter of the Pittsburgh Penguins, refusing to shave his beard until the Penguins were out of the playoffs. Robert’s favorite time of day was happy hour with Monette, his family, and friends, especially on the beach. He found peace and solitude working in his garden and took great pride in his many flowers and plants, most notably his tomatoes. Most important to Robert, however, was spending time with his family and the many friends that he made throughout his life.

In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by his son, Joseph Salvatore Fastuca; son, Anthony James (Abigail) Fastuca; granddaughter, Amelia Grace Fastuca; brother, George Fastuca; sister, Rosemary (Arnie) Edelstein;  sister, Carol (Mark Cursey) Fastuca; brother, Cal Fastuca; brother, Donald (Nancy) Fastuca; brother, Stephen (Debra) Fastuca; brother, Gerald Fastuca; sister, Janet Fastuca; brother, Douglas (Lindsey O’Connor) Fastuca; and many loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Sgt. Louis Robert Fastuca and his parents, Salvatore and Mary Fastuca.
