Robert Crowell

Robert Crowell, 87, entered eternal rest at Paoli Hospital on Thursday, February 20, 2020.   

Robert was married to Mary M. Crowell for 56 years, until her death in October of 2012.  Together they raised five children, living in Holmes, PA. 

Robert was preceded in death by his son, John A. Crowell, and is survived by his children, Diane E. Deluca of Wilmington, DE, Lynda M. Byrd and her husband Jeffrey of Charleston, SC, R. Alan Crowell of Denver, CO, and William M. Crowell of West Chester, PA; grandchildren Daniel M. Deluca, Taylor F. Byrd, Evan A. Crowell, Kieran P. Crowell, Emma C. Crowell, and Megan E. Crowell.   

Robert was a proud US Army Veteran of the Korean War and resident of Wayne, PA.   

Born December 15, 1932 in West Chester, PA, he was the son of the late Samuel B. Crowell Jr. and the late Helen E. Crowell. He is preceded in death by his brother Samuel B. Crowell III of Waynesboro, PA; and is survived by his brother Charles S. Crowell of Edgemont, PA. 

Robert graduated from Drexel University and spent his career as an Engineer at General Electric Co. until his retirement in 1994.   

Robert loved his family, boating, building and flying RC airplanes, and he never met a dog he didn't love.  He could fix or build almost anything.  And he did.  He had a tool for everything; and if you wanted to know how something - anything - worked, he could tell you.  Spending time with family and boating on the Chesapeake Bay brought him joy, pride and contentment.

He was immensely proud of his children. He was known for his quick wit and a great attitude, especially during times of hardship.   

Robert would have thought that this obituary should have praised him less, and his children more.   

Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Thursday, March 5, 2020 from 9:00-9:45 am at DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home, Inc., 410 North Church Street, West Chester, PA 19380, 610-696-1181, www.DellaFH.com; followed by his Funeral Service at 10am.  

Interment will be held in Birmingham Lafayette Cemetery, West Chester.
