Richard A. "Dick" Lucas, 86 of West Chester, PA passed away on Wednesday April 29, 2020.
He was the devoted husband of Barbara Dunn Lucas of West Chester, PA. for 59 years.
Born January 9, 1934 in South Boston, MA he was the son of the late Frank Lucas and the late Mary Mankevitch Lucas.
In 1956 Dick graduated from Boston College where he played two years on the BC baseball team and four years on the BC football team. In his senior year, Dick won the O’Melia Award for the most outstanding player & MVP of the Boston College vs Holy Cross game.
Upon graduation from Boston College he went to Quantico, VA, joined the U.S. Marine Corp and was honorably discharged as a First Lieutenant.
Dick played professional football in the NFL for one year with the Pittsburgh Steelers and four years with Philadelphia Eagles and was a member of the Eagles 1960 NFL Championship Team. He remained a loyal Eagles fan and season ticket holder. Dick was a former president of the Philadelphia Eagles Alumni Association, participating in numerous golf tournaments and countless charitable events.
He was a parishioner of both SS. Peter & Paul Church, and SS. Simon and Jude Church of West Chester PA., the West Chester B.P.O. Elks Lodge #853 and the Pennsylvania American Legion.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Dr. Karen L. Lucas (Mark Harms); son, Brian K. Lucas (Shawna); daughter, Andrea L. Lucas (David Schubel); grandchildren, Alyssa Lucas, Michelle Lucas, Fiona Harms and Isabel Harms
Services and interment will be private.
