Raymond Thomas Lechentre, a 97 year old WWII Veteran, died July 3rd, 2021 at his home.
Born in Ardmore, he was the son of the late Raymond Rene Lechentre and Eleaner McDonough Lechentre. He resided in Broomall for 30 years before moving to West Chester in 1982 to be closer to his daughter, Denyse Faust, her husband Dan, and grandson Elliot.
He was an avid golfer for many years. In his younger years, he also enjoyed flying and kept a small plane at the New Garden Airport. He was a staunch Phillies fan, even when they couldn’t find a way to win. Though he endured many years of macular degeneration and was legally blind, still he “watched” every game on TV.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of 57 years, Madeleine, and his grandson, Danny Faust.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Mass of Christian burial, 10:00AM, July 10th, at St. Agnes Church, 233 W Gay St, West Chester, where friends may call from 9:30 to 10 at the church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Home Based Primary Care (HBPC) payable to Coatesville Veterans Affairs, 1400 Blackhorse Hill Road Attn: Volunteer Services, Coatesville, PA 19320. In the memo section, please indicate HBPC and Ray’s name, as they provided an abundance of tender, loving care to him for the past 14 years, particularly his nurse, Eileen Foster who sought to meet his every wish and need.
We also want to thank the wonderful folks at Holisticare Hospice for walking with us on our journey and all their gentle, caring aid over these past few weeks.
Thanks also to the folks at Home Instead who provided home health aides, especially Janet Parlett, his faithful aide for many years…a constant in his life on whom he could depend.
