Obituary

Paul Hunt Lee passed away on August 27, 2026, leaving behind a life marked by kindness, humor, devotion, and steady grace. Paul was born on July 25, 1949, in Burbank, California, to the late William Francis Lee II and Paula Theresa Hunt. A 4th-generation Californian, Paul was very proud of his heritage.

Paul was the beloved husband of Gail Lynn Lee, his college sweetheart, and together they shared 53 years of marriage. He was a devoted father to Devon Lee Trumbower and a caring father-in-law to Timothy Trumbower. He was a proud grandfather to Carys and Cadence Trumbower, and he cherished the joy and energy they brought into his life. He was the youngest of two Lee brothers in a family of sports enthusiasts and an uncle of many nephews and nieces, whom he loved dearly. His family was at the center of his world, and he found great happiness in the moments they shared together.

A lifelong athlete, he played many sports throughout his youth and adulthood. He received a full scholarship to play football at the University of California Santa Barbara, and agreed on the condition that he could also play baseball. He was team captain of the 1971 baseball team, and a critical member of the 1972 Championship Super Regional team. Some of his fondest memories are of those college days and the many alumni games and reunions. His last trip to Santa Barbara was for the 50th reunion of that special team.

He earned a degree in Anthropology and athletic training minor from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and an MBA at Fairleigh Dickinson University. His academic path reflected both his interest in understanding people and his commitment to growth and leadership.

Paul devoted 37 years of service to AT&T. He began his career in downtown Los Angeles, then took assignments in Sacramento and San Ramon, California. He and his family made the big move to Basking Ridge, NJ in 1985 for a Headquarters assignment. They remained in New Jersey for 32 years before moving to Kennett Square in 2018. These years were a testament to his dedication and perseverance, and he took pride in the career he built and the many friendships he made.

Paul and Gail loved to travel, enjoying relaxing beach vacations and adventures around the world over the decades. They loved the history, architecture, diversity of people, and food on these many journeys. Paul also enjoyed golf and played with special friends on trips to Scotland, Ireland, and across the US. When he and Gail moved to Kennett Square, he played many rounds with neighbors and friends and was proud of the several "closest to the pin" prizes he won.

Those who knew Paul will remember his easy smile, his gentle nature, his sense of humor, and the way he made others feel at ease. He had a gift for kindness and a natural ability to connect with people in a sincere and meaningful way.

Paul’s life was one of family, service, faith, and quiet strength. He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that will continue to live on in the hearts of his wife, daughter, son-in-law, granddaughters, brother, nephews and nieces, and all who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends.

A celebration of Paul's life will be held on Friday, October 16th, at 11AM at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 10 West Pleasant Grove Rd, West Chester PA 19382. A reception will follow at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Westminster Presbyterian Church Music program or the UC Santa Barbara Baseball Program.
