Patricia A. DeHart, 86 of West Chester, PA passed away Sunday March 30, 2025 at St. Martha Manor in Downingtown.
Born January 31, 1939 in Mildred, PA she was the daughter of the late Charles S. Raub and the late Mary Alice McDonald Raub.
Patricia grew up in West Chester, PA, and graduated from St. Agnes High School in 1956.
She began her career at Bell Telephone, where she worked for 4 years. Afterward, she chose to stay home and raise her child. In later years, she served as a Program Coordinator for Adult Care/Active Day of Chester County.
Patricia was deeply devoted to helping others and gave generously of her time through volunteer work. She was active in many organizations, including St. Agnes Church Home and School, Bishop Shanahan, the Brandywine Valley SPCA, and Adult Care/Active Day of Chester County. For the SPCA, she wrote a weekly column titled “Shelter Talk.”
In the early 1980s, Patricia also wrote a memoir about caring for her mother, titled “A Labor of Love,” which was published after she submitted it to the Pennsylvania Department of Aging.
A lifelong member of St. Agnes Church in West Chester, Patricia found joy in traveling, cooking, baking, and, most of all, helping others.
She is survived by her daughter, Charlene (Russ) Rafine and grandson, Kevin Rafine.
Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on Friday, April 4, 2025 from 10:00 am - 11:15 am at DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home, Inc. 410 North Church Street West Chester, PA 19380; followed by her Funeral Service at 11:30 am.
Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery West Chester, PA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Camilla Hall Nursing Home c/o IHM Mission Advancement Office and/or Brandywine Valley SPCA and/or St. Agnes Church.
