Norman Collins Obituary

Norman F. Collins, 79, of Caribou, ME, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 19, 2024, at Paoli Hospital in Paoli, PA. We are heartbroken and his loss is deeply felt.

Norman was the beloved husband of Barbara J. Collins (Theriault), and together they celebrated a remarkable journey of over 58 years of marriage.

Born on October 4, 1944, in Leominster, MA, Norman was the son of the late Eugene Collins and the late Florence Dupuis Collins. After the passing of his mother, Norman was raised by his step mother, the late Carmelite Bourque Collins.

His life was marked by an unwavering optimism and selflessness that touched the hearts of everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Norman was affectionately known for many years as "What's his name?” from the Potato Picker's Special. He co-owned Theriault Tire & Equipment until his retirement in 2007. However, what truly defined him was his love and commitment to the community. Norman served on numerous boards throughout the area, including as a former Board Chairman of Cary Medical Center and Pines Health Services, a member of the Jefferson Cary Foundation Board of Directors, and a member of the Caribou Hospital District. He recently served as Chairman of the Board of Aroostook Savings & Loan. In his early years, he was active in the Knights of Columbus, the Rotary Club, and the Chamber of Commerce.

An avid golfer, Norm enjoyed hitting the links as often as he could and had previously served as the Caribou Country Club President and on the Board of Directors.

Predeceased by his sister Sylvia Newman and brother Richard Collins, Norman's memory will be honored and kept alive by his loving family. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; daughter, Kelley (Bob) Fish of West Chester, PA, and grandchildren Ariah, Bobby, and Max; son, Scott Collins of Midlothian, VA, and granddaughter Kayla (Jonathan) Lee and great-grandson Bode; daughter, Kristen (Alex) Jaroshevich of Malvern, PA, and granddaughter Eva; and brother, Kevin (Laurel) Collins of Brentwood, TN. Norman also had special connections with Barbara’s sisters and brothers, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Friday, March 8, 2024 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou, ME 04736 and his Funeral Mass on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 11:00 am at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 34 Vaughn St., Caribou, ME 04736.
