Born Nancy Hunter Smith on May 14, 1934 in West Chester, Pennsylvania she passed away peacefully on Sunday August 17, 2025 at Barclay Friends in West Chester at the age of 91. Nancy was the daughter of the late William Brinton Smith Jr. and Grace Thomas Smith, and the widow of Francis Farquhar McAdams.
Nancy spent her childhood living in West Chester Borough down the street from the WCCC where she learned her love for tennis. A West Chester High School alumni as part of the class of 1952. After graduating, she worked at West Chester Friends School until marrying her first husband, William Nesbit Brinker lll.
Nancy was an amazing homemaker and hostess, delighting dinner guests with delicious, elegant meals inspired by her love for Julia Child and the Barefoot Contessa. While raising her sons she continued playing tennis earning many club championships. Aside from her sons, tennis, and cooking, Nancy was an avid gardener and antique collector. She was a lifelong member of the West Chester Garden Club.
Nancy was blessed with many lifelong friends who she loved to travel, dine, and spend time with. She could often be seen happily bopping around town in her sporty cars, accompanied by one of her faithful terriers as she traveled to visit family or friends.
Nancy is survived by her sons William Nesbit Brinker lV(Heather) and Baird Talbot Brinker (Sandy). Grandsons, Baird T. Brinker Jr. (Brittany) and William N. Brinker (Sara).
She was predeceased by her parents, William and Grace Smith and brother William B. Smith lll.
Relatives and friends are invited to her remembrance on Friday September 26, 2025 at 11 am at Church of the Holy Trinity 212 S. High Street West Chester, Pennsylvania.
Interment will be at Oaklands Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the historical Oaklands Cemetery.
