Nancy E. Dowdy

Dowdy, Nancy Elizabeth, born to David and Mary Elizabeth Showalter September 25, 1924, died peacefully in Carol Stream on November 9, 2022. She was preceded in death by her dear husband of 55 years, Homer, by her brothers David, Jack and Bill, and by a granddaughter, Madeleine.

Nancy was born in West Chester, PA and raised in Atlanta, GA and Silver Spring, MD. She attended Wheaton College (IL) where she met her husband. Nancy and Homer raised six children in Flint, MI. Over the years she relished her roles as a homemaker and involved herself in school activities, Scouts and church.

She taught several women’s Bible classes and led Christian Women’s Clubs overseas and in the USA. Nancy and Homer relocated to Switzerland for six years and later retired in Annapolis, MD. Among her many activities, she most of all loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

For the past 17 years, she resided at Windsor Park Manor in Carol Stream, IL close to family, where she was loved by residents and staff alike. She leaves her children Peggy (Ted), Becky, Barbara, David (Joanne), Jenny (Kim), and Susan (David), 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
