Obituary

Matthew Clair, 46 of West Chester, PA passed away Monday May 19, 2025 at the Chester County Hospital in West Chester.

He was the loving husband of Mary Katherine Messner.

Born April 14, 1979 in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of Christopher M. Clair and Helene G. Grogan Clair.

Matthew grew up in Aston, PA, and graduated from Salesianum High School. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Albright College.

He worked as a manager for Ace Hardware of West Chester, part of the family business.

Matthew was a devoted member of St. Agnes Church in West Chester.

He cherished time with his family and children, enjoyed running with his dirt run crew, loved giving back to the community, working alongside his family, and spending time at the beach.

In addition to his parents and wife, he is survived by his son, Christopher Clair, son, Colin Clair, daughter, Ellen Clair, son, Casey Clair, brother, Sean Clair, sister in law, two brothers in law, aunts, uncles, cousins and many loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 from 10:00 am - 11:45 am at St. Agnes Church 233 W. Gay St. West Chester, PA 19380; followed by his Funeral Mass at 12:00 pm. Matt lived is his life in color and would love if you wore bright colors (including Ace red). 

Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Gift of Life Donor Program
