Mary “Mamie” Sharpless Tyson, 80 of Pottstown, PA, died Wednesday April 20, 2022 at the Lehigh Valley Hospice in Allentown.
Born September 1, 1941 in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Harry Charles Tyson and the late Evalyn Heyburn Tyson.
Mamie grew up in Concordville, PA, and graduated from Media High School and Drexel University.
Mamie worked in the food service industry for Abington Hospital, Stouffers, Sleighton School, and Nutrition Management. In the 1970s, she co-owned The Inn Place Restaurant in Concordville, PA. She also spent a few years teaching middle school in the Philadelphia School District.
She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Spring City, PA. Mamie was also a Director of the Concordville Branch of Needlework Guild of America.
She enjoyed reading, knitting, and teaching Sunday School.
Mamie is survived by her sister, Mildred T. "Millie" Collins of Pottstown, PA, two nieces, Abigail Turley, wife of Shawn Turley, of Pottstown, PA, and Rachel Brosnan, wife of John Brosnan, of Aberdeen, MD, and grandnieces and grandnephews Samuel, Norah, Bennett, Jet, Harlow, and Maverick.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Memorial Service at 1pm on Sunday May 1, 2022, at the Bethel United Methodist Church, 952 Bethel Church Road, Spring City, PA, 19475. A reception will follow the service at the church. Interment will be in private.
