Obituary

Mary Jane Lucine, of Kennett Square, PA, devoted spouse, parent and grandmother passed away on February 13, 2025 at the age of 94.

Janey was born on June 19, 1930 in Flushing, NY to Howard and Eleanor Lawson. Janey completed nursing school at Presbyterian Hospital and worked as a Registered Nurse in the operating room.

There she met the love of her life and future husband Albert A. Lucine. They were happily married for 61 years. Together they has two daughters Suzanne and Elizabeth.

Janey loved life and always had a smile and kind word for everyone. She had many passions:  family, Morgan horses and German Shepherds were a few. Janey devoted herself to raising her two daughter filled with love and animals. Janey bought her first Morgan horse after she was married. She showed Squire Penn in park saddle and parade classes. The whole family continued to show and raise their Morgans.  Janey owned and bred many German Shepherds.  She loved showing her Shepherds, especially Andre, in obedience, agility, sheep herding and rally.  Together they won many titles and awards.

Janey volunteered for many years at Chester County Hospital  through their  Auxiliary.  She started the Hospital's gift shop & continued with the cheer mobile.  In the old building she could be seen playing with toys in the hallway to attract people's attention.

Janey is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth (Betty) Trostle, two grandchildren, Matthew and Meghan Trostle and many nieces, nephews and a multitude of friends.

Janey is predeceased by her husband Albert A. Lucine, daughter Suzanne Lucine, brother Howard (Bud) Lawson and sister Suzanne Vanmansart.

A very special thank you goes to her wonderful caregivers, nurses and volunteers from Home Helpers and Willow Tree Hospice.  Janey got her wish to stay in her home because of them.

Janey's life celebration, memorial service is being held on Saturday March 1, 2025 at Crosslands Community, 1660 Street Rd., Kennett Square, PA 19348 from 11 AM - 1PM.  Her interment will follow at 1:30 at the Birmingham Lafayette Cemetery, 1235 Birmingham Rd, West Chester, PA
