Mary P. Goff (Benford), 75, of Westtown Township, passed away on December 28, 2025, at her home.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Robert M. Scott.
Born on June 7, 1950, in Darby, Pennsylvania, Mary was the daughter of the late John Q. Benford and the late Cecile E. (Demaught) Benford. She grew up in Drexel Hill and went on to earn her degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
Mary devoted her professional life to the medical field, working for Automated Medical Systems, and later spent more than 30 years at the Philadelphia Hand Center. She was a cultural anthropologist by training and curiosity, with a lifelong love of learning. Mary especially enjoyed reading and puzzles, pursuits that reflected her thoughtful and inquisitive nature.
Earlier in her life, Mary and her mother were instrumental in starting the Brandywine Children’s House in Malvern, and she was also involved with the Montessori school community.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her step-son, Patrick Scott (Tammy); and her cherished step-grandchildren, Crew, Kanon, and Vayda; her sister, Rosemary Botella and her daughters April and Holly, and her brother, Joseph Benford.
Services and Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
