Martina C. Ossman

Martina C. Ossman, 89, of West Chester, PA, passed away Thursday, November 9, 2023.

The daughter of James Joseph and Martina Marie Coyle Cochlin, Martina grew up in West Chester and made it her lifelong home. She was preceded in death by her sister Rachel Mullin, and is survived by her loving husband Bruce, son Chad, and daughter-in-law Andrea.

She graduated from Duquesne University, travelled the world, and taught history at the Chichester School District, where she and fellow teacher Bruce bonded over their shared compassion for the antiwar protesters at Kent State.

Martina was a longtime member of the American Association of University Women (AAUW). Her keen interest in history and democracy inspired her to volunteer at the Brandywine Battlefield and as a poll worker. She enjoyed bridge and discussion groups, caring for her extended family, and managing her parents’ historic farmhouse.

Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on Thursday, November 16, 2023 from 10:00 - 10:45 am at St. Agnes Church 233 W. Gay St. West Chester, PA 19380; followed by her Funeral Service at 11:00 am.

Interment will be in St. Malachi Cemetery, in Cochranville PA.
