Martin Silver

Martin  Silver, 82 years old of  West Chester, PA passed away Sunday August 11, 2024 at Chester County Hospital, West Chester, PA.

Born December 12, 1941 in Manhattan, NY he was the son of the late Abraham Silver and the late Frances Abramowitz Silver.

Martin spent most of his life in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, in his parent’s family co-op apartment overlooking the East River. He graduated from Stuyvesant High School in 1959.

He was always active and loved playing basketball, baseball, and paddleball. Living in the city, he walked miles and miles almost daily, and remained fit and active his entire life.

Martin dedicated 36 years working as a sergeant for the New York State Court system, in the supreme court of New York City in Lower Manhattan (and walked to work every day, naturally).

He loved sports, especially baseball (the Mets), football (Giants), and hockey (Rangers), and wasn’t too happy about being surrounded by Phillies/Eagles fan in the last few years. But he loved to tease his local family over the rivalry.

Martin was kind to all who knew him, always had a smile on his face, and loved to make others feel special.

He is survived by his niece Adrienne (Marc) Silver, nephews Michael & Antonio Silver, sister-in-law Diane Silver, beloved cousins who called him weekly, and his beloved and closest friends Jill and Brian and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents Abraham and Frances Silver, and brother Harold Ira Silver.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation on Saturday August 17, 2024 from 2:30 PM – 3:15 PM at DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home, Inc., 410 N. Church St., West Chester, PA 19380 610.696.1181 www.DellaFh.com, followed by his Funeral Service at 3:30 PM.

Graveside Service will be on Monday August 19, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Wellwood Cemetery, 1400  Wellwood Avenue, West Babylon, NY 11704.
