Mark was born on January 28, 1957 in Wilmington, Delaware to Donald L. and Virginia L. Wayland (Wadsley). Mark worked as a chemist and product manager at Quaker Chemical Corporation for over 32 years. Mark married Anna, the love of his life, on June 20, 1987.
His family remembers him as a kind, patient and supportive father who devoted himself to his family. In every way he was the heart of the family. From working on projects around the house to beach trips, family vacations and scout adventures, Mark was constantly there for his family. He shared his athleticism and great love of the outdoors through skiing, hiking, camping, and water sports with his children. He was actively involved in both of his children’s lives through scouting and various activities. During the course of his disease he never lost his ability to give the best hugs in the world.
Mark was an accomplished racquetball player, exercise enthusiast, a lover of classic rock, smooth jazz, and a good joke. He was always the energy in the room, the life of the party and made everyone laugh with his stories and stupid jokes. He always made people feel like one of the family and he will be in our hearts forever.
The family would like to share their appreciation to the staff at The Pocopson Home for the incredible care they have shown to Mark during his time there.
