Marjorie Ruth Messick

Marjorie Ruth Messick, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and lifelong lover of family, nature and spirited conversation, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2025, surrounded by those who loved her most.

Born in Philadelphia on October 13, 1934, to Byron L. Roye and Marjorie R. Cameron, Marjorie spent her early years in the city before settling in West Chester, where she lived the majority of her adult life. A dedicated medical transcriptionist and administrative assistant, she brought care to her work— a trait that mirrored her commitment to family.

Marjorie is survived by her three beloved daughters: Laurie Messick, Lynne Lineberry (Dr. Christopher Lineberry) and Lisa Smith (Mr. Michael Smith). Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren, as well as her adored great-grandchildren.

She found joy in the simple pleasures of life—watching the birds and squirrels from her window, immersing herself in a good book or engaging in lively discussions about politics. Marjorie was a die-hard fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies and she never missed a chance to catch a college football game.

Her warmth, wit and unwavering love will be remembered by all who knew her. Marjorie’s life was a testament to resilience, kindness and the strength of family.

A private family gathering will be held to honor her life and memory.
