Obituary

Marilyn Elaine Gwynn, nee Reisz , passed away peacefully of natural causes on December 27, 2025, at her residence in West Chester, PA. Born on December 7, 1944, in Cincinnati, OH, Marilyn's life was a testament to the power of kindness, the joy of family, and the warmth of a well-loved home.

Marilyn dedicated her life to creating a nurturing environment for her loved ones. Her home was always bustling with the sounds of laughter and the aroma of her delicious cooking. She had a unique gift for making her home a welcoming place for family and friends.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Bertha Reisz, her beloved husband, James S. Gwynn, Jr., and her sisters, Pauline Blum and Kathryn Deimeke. Marilyn's legacy continues through her brother, Ronald Reisz; her daughter, Nicole [Stephen] Frank, and their children, Megan [Daniel] Johnson and Sarah [Marlon] Gonzalez-Perez; her son, James III [Cindy], and their children, James IV and Lily; her son, Brian; and her great-grandchildren, Noah and Cayden Johnson. Her grandchildren affectionately knew her as Grandma Poopsie [poup-see], a name that brought smiles and will forever evoke memories of her playful spirit.

A stylishly dressed figure on the tennis court, Marilyn was known for her competitive spirit. Her love for the game was matched only by her passion for her favorite teams, the Cincinnati Bengals & Reds and the Philadelphia Eagles. She looked forward to hosting each year’s neighborhood Super Bowl party. Additionally, her happy places included an equal love for cruise vacations, Ford Mustangs, and getting lost in a great book.

As Marilyn joins her husband in heavenly eternal peace and love, her memory will forever be a guiding light for those she left behind. She faced each day with a smile and left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew her. As we bid farewell to Poopsie, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a soul that will continue to shine brightly in the memories of all who loved her.

Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on Friday January 2, 2026 from 10-10:45am at the St. Agnes Church, 233 West Gay Street West Chester, PA followed by his Funeral Mass at 11am. Interment, St. Agnes Cemetery.
