Marie C. Kelly, of Malvern, PA passed away Wednesday January 1, 2025 at home at 94 yrs of age.
Born November 4, 1930 in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late James J. Kelly and the late Isabella Malloy Kelly.
Marie grew up in the Mayfair section of Philadelphia and graduated from St. Hubert’s High School where she was an outstanding basketball player.
After high school, Marie enrolled in the community of Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. As Sister Marie Grace, she taught in a number of Catholic elementary schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.
After leaving the order, Marie continued with her career in teaching until she retired, serving in Chester County Public Schools with most of her time at General Wayne Middle School. Marie was a deeply caring and joyous person who loved people, time with her extended family and a good story.
She is survived by her longtime friend, housemate, and travel companion, Margaret Reher.
She is also survived by many favorite nieces and nephews including Margaret Kelly, Monica Rush, Marie Hickey, Catherine Moreau, James Kelly, Patricia Coleman, Thomas Coleman, Matthew Coleman, Mark Coleman, Joseph Coleman, John Coleman, Ann Carr, Mary Carr, Bernadette Stasny and Maggie Carr. She is also survived by numerous great nieces and nephews.
Marie was preceded in death by her brother, Leo P. Kelly, and sisters, Anna Theresa Kelly Coleman and Eileen Kelly Carr and also by her favorite nephew, James Coleman.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Monday, January 20th at 10 AM at St. Norbert’s Church, 6 Greenlawn Rd, Paoli, PA 19301
