Obituary

Marie Markle Gerber (nee Markle) of Stockport, Ohio returned to the Lord on April 11th in McConnelsville after courageously battling multiple health issues for seven years. She was 77 years old. Marie was born July 15, 1947 in Coatesville, Pennsylvania to Samuel and Marie Markle while they resided in Christiana. She married her loving husband Richard Gerber in 1982. She was a longtime resident of Chester County, Pennsylvania and a graduate of Immaculata College, Class of 1969.

Marie enjoyed crocheting, making afghans for many friends’ and loved ones’ newborns. Marie loved the shore, and she and Richard made Chincoteague, Virginia their regular vacation destination. She was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies. In her final years, she and Richard would spend summer evenings watching any baseball game that was on television. Marie also enjoyed gardening with her husband, planting many tulips. She relished the company of family, finding joy in gatherings of her children.

Marie is survived by her husband Richard, her brothers William (Mikie) Markle and Thomas (Joan Yakscoe) Markle, her children Jonathan (Holly) Markle, Dallas (Jacqueline), Laura (Michael) Crawford, and Samuel (Morgan). She is also survived by grandchildren Troy, Ashley, Molly, and Isla, and nieces and nephews Catherine, Daniel, MaryJoe, Meghan, and Meredith.
