Marie Elizabeth Furlong, a beacon of selfless love and creativity, passed away on August 23, 2025, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. Born on April 29, 1955, in Chester, Pa, Marie's life was a testament to her unwavering spirit and the joy she brought to those around her. She departed this world peacefully in Paoli, Pa, with the love of her family.
Marie's life was characterized by her kind and nurturing spirit. She was a beloved wife to John "Marty" Furlong Jr., with whom she shared 49 years of marriage. Together they cherished the growth and accomplishments of their children, Patricia, wife of Nicholas Corby III, and Jemmie, wife to Brian Siciliano. Marie's joy was multiplied as she embraced the role of “Gigi” to her grandchildren, Nicholas "Cole" Corby IV, Claire Corby, Colin Staehle, Evelyn Staehle, and Lily Siciliano, who each held a special place in her heart.
Her family circle was vast and warm, including her sister, Deborah, wife of Kenneth Furlong, brother-in-law, Francis Furlong, and sister-in-law, Sara (Furlong) Moretti. Marie also shared cherished memories with her late sister-in-law, Beth Ann Furlong. She was a beloved aunt to numerous nieces and a nephew, each of whom benefitted from her presence and wisdom in their lives.
Marie's professional life was marked by an impressive 39-year tenure in the culinary and recreation departments for the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary at Camilla Hall. Her dedication to service was evident in the care she put into every task, and her presence brought comfort and joy to those she served. Marie's hands were rarely still, as she poured her love into every creation, whether a delicious dish or a beautifully crafted keepsake. Marie's work was not just a job; it was a calling that she fulfilled with grace and humility.
Marie Elizabeth Furlong's memory will be held in the hearts of her husband, daughters, grandchildren, and the countless lives she touched. Her spirit, characterized by generosity and kindness, will continue to inspire and guide her loved ones. Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on Saturday, September 20, 2025 from 9:00 am - 11:00 am at DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home, Inc. 410 North Church Street West Chester, PA 19380, followed by her Funeral Service at 11:00 am
Interment will be private.
