Louise R. Giunta

Louise R. Giunta, 102, of West Chester, PA died Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at the Barclay Friends in West Chester.

She was the wife of the late Nicholas Giunta.

Born August 8, 1920, in Philadelphia, PA she was the daughter of the late Vito Santagata and the late Mary Manco Santagata.

Louise grew up in Philadelphia and graduated from Simon Gratz High School.  She graduated from West Chester University with a B.S. degree in Physical Education.  She then received her Master’s Degree from Temple University. 

Louise worked as an Associate Professor for West Chester University where she taught physical education and dance.  She was also a coach for the West Chester University swim team.  After her retirement, Louise served on the WCU Alumni Committee for years.

Louise was a life-long member of St. Agnes Church and was a member of the Women’s Italian Junior Club.

She enjoyed spending time with her extended family especially during Sunday spaghetti dinners, birthdays, holidays, and summer vacations at the Jersey Shore. She was a huge Philadelphia Phillies fan and a Villanova basketball fan.  She loved playing bridge with her friends. 

She is survived by her children Linda M. Spaziani and her husband Daniel, Donald G. Giunta and his wife Mary Frances, grandchildren, Daniel, Kim, Nicholas, Michael, Theresa, Tori, great-grandchildren, Emily, Natalie, Joey, Porter, Conor, Archie, Kendall, sister, Dolores Lawrence, and many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by son, Ronald N. Giunta, and siblings, Marion Delagol, Gerald Santo, and Eleanor Ludovico.

Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on Thursday, May 4, 2023 from 9:15 am - 10:45 am at St. Agnes Church 233 W. Gay St. West Chester, PA 19380, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery West Chester PA.
