Lino Puglia, 91 of West Chester, PA formerly of Broomall, PA passed away Thursday June 27, 2024 at his home in West Chester.
He was the loving husband of Carolina Gasparroni Puglia.
Born September 18, 1932 in Corropoli, Italy he was the son of the late Enrico Puglia and the late Silvia Santori Puglia.
Lino grew up in Corropoli, Italy where he completed his elementary education. With the unfortunate sudden passing of his father he was unable to complete any further education and took on the task of helping his family. He became a successful businessman and owed and operated his own automotive detail business all while learning the crafts of Stone Mason and Brickwork
He met his wife Carolina in 1958 and they married in 1960. He immigrated to the United States in 1962 to provide a better life for his growing family and was reunited with three of his older siblings.
Lino was a Golden Emeritus member of Bricklayer and Allied Craftworkers Local 1. He worked as a Stone Mason/Bricklayer for over 30 years and would have continued building if he physically could. He has created a lasting legacy in numerous structures throughout the tristate area. One of his favorite accomplishments was the bridge at St Joseph’s University that crosses over City Line Avenue.
He enjoyed working with his hands and performed many home improvements for family and friends alike. He is the true definition of a handyman. He could fix just about anything. His grandkids will always remember all the birdhouses and characters he built and painted that were displayed throughout the backyard.
One of Lino’s favorite pastimes was watching every Philadelphia sport team. He especially loved watching soccer. Lino also enjoyed spending time outdoors. He was an avid gardener and grew mostly all of his own fruits and vegetables that he loved sharing with family, friends and neighbors.
He will be remembered for never leaving the house without a hat. He had a hat for every occasion and he wore it with his welcoming smile.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Patricia C. (Michael) Washkalavitch; granddaughter, Nicole (Joseph) Gallagher, granddaughter, Michelle (Kevin) Sack, grandson, Michael (Anna) Washkalavitch, grandson, Domenic (Tara) Puglia, grandson, Damian Puglia; great grandchildren, Jaxson, Maeve, Piper, Finnegan, Cameron, Carter, Nolan; his sister Anita(Carlo) Carapucci; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Giorgio Puglia , Raffaele (Amalia) Puglia and his sister Venezia DiDonato.
He is finally reunited in heaven with his loving son Roberto Puglia.
Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 from 10:00 am - 10:45 am at St. Agnes Church 233 W. Gay St. West Chester, PA 19380; followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 am.
Entombment will be in SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery Springfield, PA.
