Linda Ann (Smith) Green, 84 years of age, of Kennett Square, formerly of Chadds Ford, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 while under the loving care of her family and the staff at Barclay Friends Senior Living in West Chester, PA.
Linda was born on February 29, 1940 in Philadelphia and was raised in Wallingford, PA. She was the daughter of the late Melville H. Smith and Margaretta Ann (Hartman) Smith. She was the wife of Harold Green of West Chester with whom she shared 19 years of marriage.
Linda was a 1958 graduate of Nether Providence High School (now Strath Haven High School). She attended Beaver College (now Arcadia University) and Principia College where she graduated with a degree in English.
Linda’s career was varied. After pursuing a degree in industrial design in California, she represented Swank Motion Pictures renting movies to colleges and universities in the state. She lived in Montana for awhile and worked for an advertising agency writing jingles for their clients. Later, she joined the family financial marketing business and was their sales representative in several southern states. She also used her writing skills to write articles for the Christian Science Monitor in Boston and Town Talk newspaper in Media. Later in life, she took courses to get her real estate license and sold real estate for several years before retiring. In retirement, she was a docent at Winterthur and took many classes through the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Hal Green and brother Richard Smith.
Linda is survived by a brother, Jeffrey and his wife Karen of West Chester, a sister, Terry and her husband James Baidokas of Media, her sister-in-law, Lynne Pearson Smith Nelson of Hudson, IL., her nieces, Olivia Smith and Stephanie Baidokas, nephew Robert Baidokas and stepchildren Vaughn (Sally) Green, Roy (Sherry) Green and Marsi (Mike) McCourt.
Linda was a member of the Christian Science Church in West Chester for 51 years and held various church positions during that time including Board member, Sunday School teacher and Reader.
A memorial service is planned for Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at 11:00 at the Lima United Methodist Church, 209 Middletown Road, Media, PA 19063.
