Lila M. White

Lila M. White, 82 of Downingtown, PA passed away Tuesday August 27, 2024, at the St. Martha Villas in Downingtown.

She was the wife of the late Herman S. White Jr., who died March 26, 2024. 

Born July 2, 1942, in Camden, NJ, she was the daughter of the late June Baxter.

Lila grew up in Chester, PA and graduated from Chester High School.  She was a longtime resident of Parkside, PA, where she raised her family before retiring, first to Rehoboth Beach, DE and then to Zephyrhills, FL, before returning to Pennsylvania in her final years.

During her working career, she worked as an Administrative Professional for the Chester Police Department, Chester Upland School District, Pennsylvania Institute of Technology and the Delaware County Bar Association.

While raising her family, Lila selflessly volunteered her time to her children’s sports leagues and other activities, raising money, working in snack bars, and whatever else was needed.  In her younger years, she enjoyed entertaining and hosting card game nights with friends, going to the casino, playing bingo and sipping margaritas. In retirement, Lila loved living near the beach and having her family visit, especially her beloved grandchildren.  

She is survived by her son, Jeffrey White and his wife Lauren of Glenmoore, daughter Karen Orlando and her husband Joseph of Elverson, grandchildren Tara Orlando, Benjamin White and  Lindsay White. She is also survived by her brother, Frederick Thomsen of Lewes, DE and sister, Sherrie Carullo of St. Augustine, FL. 

Services and interment will be private.
