Leonard R. Benjamin, 76, of West Chester, PA passed away, Thursday March 21, 2019 at Pocopson Home, West Chester, PA.
Born June 17, 1942 in Richmond, IN he was the son of the late Wilbur Benjamin and the late Ilona Svarczkopf Benjamin.
He attended the University of Dayton in electrical engineering. He was an excellent golfer and avid chess player in his younger years (captain of the golf and chess teams in high school) and superb mathematician. He was also an accomplished diver. Due to a severe car accident he was unable to complete his degree or fulfill his potential, and ultimately struggled with physical and mental difficulties throughout the rest of his life.
Friends, family, and acquaintances knew him as a friendly, kind, gentle soul with a ready smile and hello. He always looked forward to a round of golf which he continued to excel at until recently. He remained very close to his family.
He worked as an assembler for Handi Crafters, Thorndale, PA.
He is survived by his siblings Linda Bauer (Robert), Gwen Martin (Morton Dempsey), Dana Lynch (Bill), Pete Benjamin (Karen), nieces and nephews Kim Eder, Brendan Bauer, Kristen Nunez, Kerry Goethel, Brad Martin, Andrew Peters, Madalyn Neuwirth and Hannah Benjamin and goddaughter Andrea Mosey.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation on Tuesday March 26, 2019, from 9:00 am – 10:00 am at St. Agnes Church, 233 W. Gay St., West Chester, PA 19380; followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:00 am.
Interment will be Private.
