Leo Peter Farrell, III

It is with profound sadness and endless love that we announce the passing of our beloved Dad, Leo Peter Farrell, III, who passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on July 29, 2026, at the age of 86.

Pete was born in Hoboken, New Jersey, to Leo Peter Farrell II and Eleanore Light Farrell. One of twelve children and the oldest son, he grew up surrounded by family, learning the values of hard work, loyalty, and caring for others. He was raised in Stratford, Connecticut, where he met the love of his life, his high school sweetheart, Donni. Their first date in 1955 marked the beginning of a beautiful love story that lasted more than 60 years until Donni's passing in 2022. Together they built a wonderful life and raised their two children, Kristin and Kevin, in Guilford, Connecticut.

He proudly served his country as a member of the Army National Guard, where he served as a Mess Hall Cook and demonstrated the same commitment, discipline, and sense of duty that defined so much of his life. His military service was a reflection of his devotion to his community, his country, and the people he cared about. 

Pete began is career in sales with the Farrell family business before pursuing new opportunities in sales. Throughout his working life, he enjoyed a successful career in a variety of sales roles. 

In retirement, he & Donni enjoyed life in Timber Pines, Florida, where Pete became a beloved neighbor in the Pine Glen community. He treasured the friendships he made there and was known for his kindness, warm smile, and willingness to lend a helping hand. He loved spending time on the golf course, casting a line while fishing, cooking for family and friends, tending to his garden, and sharing life with the many dogs he adored over the years. His faithful canine companion, Skipper, remained by his side, bringing him comfort, companionship, and unconditional love. Nothing brought him greater joy than spending time with his grandchildren. He was their biggest fan and loved attending their games, performances, and activities, celebrating each of their accomplishments with pride.

Pete was a kind and generous man who made everyone feel welcome. He had a smile that could brighten any room, a laugh that was unforgettable, and a spirit that lifted everyone around him. His positivity was contagious, and he truly was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back. To know him was to love him.

As his daughter and son, we were blessed to call him Dad. He taught us the importance of kindness, resilience, compassion, and living life to the fullest. His unwavering love and support shaped who we are, and his legacy will continue to guide us every day.

Above all, he will be remembered as a devoted husband, Dad, Poppy, brother, uncle, and friend. His greatest legacy is the family he loved so deeply and the countless lives he touched through his generosity, warmth, kindness, and unwavering love. Though he will be deeply missed, his gentle spirit, generous heart, and the lessons he shared will live on in all who knew and loved him.

Pete is survived by his daughter, Kristin; his son, Kevin; his daughter-in-law, Ellen; his beloved grandchildren, Emma, Grace, Peter, Ella and Teddy; his siblings, Norene, Dennis, William, Dee, Jeanne, Jeffrey, Patrice, Sharon, Bryan and Michael; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and dear friends who will miss him deeply.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo Peter Farrell II and Eleanore Light Farrell; sister, Donna and his in-laws, George & Mary Cooke. 

Our family is deeply grateful to the many family members and friends who supported Dad throughout his journey with AML. We are especially thankful for his sister, Patty, whose unwavering love, strength, and devotion were a constant source of comfort. Patty played a critical role in his care, advocating for him throughout his illness and remaining faithfully by his side during his final days in the hospital, ensuring he was surrounded with compassion, dignity, and love. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to his sisters, Sharon, Jeanne, and Norene, who came to Florida to help care for him during his treatments. Their kindness, generosity, and steadfast support brought him great comfort. We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to his brother, Dennis, whose love and generosity helped make it possible for Dad to spend his final days surrounded by his family. Their compassion and support will always hold a special place in our hearts.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Memorial Service on Friday August 7, 2026 at 10:30 AM at the Trinity Episcopal Church 1109 Main St. Branford CT 06405. Interment to follow in Branford Center Cemetery 155 Montowese Street Branford, CT 06405.
