Laura Mae Bossert Proctor of West Chester
Laura Mae Bossert
Proctor of Wellington Terrace formally of Hershey Mill in West Chester died on
the 22nd of July 2018 at her residence.
Born in
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1926 she was the daughter of the late Samuel Bossert
and the late Laura Woodring Bossert.
She was married to
Joseph H. Proctor for 70 years.
Laura met her
husband at a Drexel/Penn mixer in 1946 and began their life-long partnership in
1948.
A proud graduate
of Girls’ High in Philadelphia, she later completed a nursing program at the
University of Pennsylvania.
She worked as a
nurse for Dr. Michael Margolies in Coatesville, then at Paoli Hospital and
finally as a nurse at Sugartown Elementary school. After five children in five
years she retired from nursing and the work world until 1984 when she and Joe
formed Technical Associates. A 20-year successful run ensued until her final
retirement.
Laura was an
active cub scout den mother and volunteered as her childrens’ home room mother.
She painted for most of her adult life -watercolors were her preferred medium.
She was unbeatable
at word games. She had a great enthusiasm for life - traveling, entertaining
and creating and was a true friend to all.
She is survived by
three sons; David (Mary T. Holleran) of Downingtown,
Steven (Margo Bare) of Kailu, HI, Mark (Cindy) of Marietta, GA, and one
daughter Deborah Popielarczyk (John) of Dallas, TX.; son-in - law Allan Walker
of McDonough, GA; sister-in-law Betty Tomlinson of Woodbury, NJ, grandchildren Katy,
Megan, Elizabeth and Laura and great grandchildren, Alex, Ben, Isla and Charlotte.
She was predeceased by her daughter Lisa Walker.
Laura was
immensely proud of her family and loved being a grandmother.
Relatives and friends are in invited to her visitation on Saturday,
July 28, 2018 from 9:30 -10:00 a.m. at St. Francis-in-the-Fields Episcopal
Church, 689 Sugartown Road, Malvern, PA 19355; followed by her celebration of
life at 10:00 a.m.
Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to
St. Francis-in-the-Fields Episcopal Church at the above church, or the Bates
History Center Endowment at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing,
