Kathleen C. (Kathy) Johnson, 83 of Glen Mills, PA passed away Monday, May 26, 2025, at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
Kathy was the wife of the late Charles P. Johnson.
Born September 27, 1941, in Watsonville, CA; she was the daughter of the late Charles Watson McKee and the late Constance Coulter McKee.
Kathy grew up in Watsonville and Fullerton, CA, and graduated from Fullerton High School in 1959. She attended the University of Southern California, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Design. She was active with her Alpha Chi Omega sorority. Kathy married her college sweetheart, Charles Johnson and headed to his first duty station in New London, CT.
Kathy went back to school and achieved an Associate in Applied Science in Nursing in 1980 and a CCRN certification in July 1990. She worked as a Registered Nurse for over 20 years in hospitals in NJ and PA. Her last and most rewarding experience was at the VA hospital in Wilmington, DE.
She was a member of Brandywine Auxiliary at Chester County Hospital, Quilts for Kids, CCDAR Site Coordinator for Wreaths Across America, and an active member of St. Agnes Parish.
She enjoyed cooking, especially with her grandchildren, passing along family recipes over the years. She had a passion for quilting and loved gardening, playing bridge regularly with close friends, sitting on the beach, and was a diehard Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan. She had a love for dogs, fostering and volunteering for Brookline Lab Rescue.
Kathy and Chuck celebrated 56 years of marriage during which time they traveled to over 35 countries and all 50 states (48 by their motor coach). They also celebrated the many wonderful friendships made over the years, both through work and the 13 moves they had made.
She is survived by her son Douglas (Wendy), daughter Kristen Jaenisch (James), grandchildren Payton and Karrine Jaenisch, Aidan, Kendall and Nathan Johnson and by her sister-in-law Kathryn Johnson, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on Monday, June 23, 2025 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at St. Agnes Church 233 W. Gay St. West Chester, PA 19380; followed by her Funeral Service at 11:00 am. Interment will be in Birmingham Lafayette Cemetery West Chester PA.
