Kathleen Rose Martin, 79 of Ocean City, MD, previously of West Chester PA, passed away Monday June 15, 2026 at Catered Living in Ocean Pines, Berlin, MD after a long illness.
She was the wife of John D. Martin.
Born April 1, 1947 in Philadelphia, PA she was the daughter of the late Charles Lorello and the late Catherine Rose Devlin Lorello.
Kathleen grew up in Havertown, PA and graduated from Haverford High School in 1965. She went on to graduate from Misericordia Hospital School of Nursing, received her Bachelors of Nursing from West Chester University, and later achieved a Master’s Degree with a 3.95 GPA in Counseling Psychology from Immaculata University while simultaneously working full time and raising three young children.
She worked as a nurse for 38 years, and as an independent grief counselor for over 10 years. She was the coordinator of Chester County Hospital’s Childbirth Education Division, as well as their primary resource for people who had ‘unexpected birth outcomes’. She was a founding member and team leader of Chester County Critical Incident Stress Management Team, working with first responders, dispatchers and emergency room staff.
Kathleen was a member of St Agnes Church in West Chester, PA and along with her husband John, was a Marriage Encounter presenter for 17 years.
She enjoyed sitting on the dock of the shore house in Ocean City Maryland with a good book, cooking amazing meals, sewing outfits for her young children and later her young grandchildren, collecting porcelain dolls, helping and healing people and anything to do with family.
In addition to her husband John Martin, Kathleen is survived by her children, Michael Martin (Cynthia) of Upper Darby PA, Maureen Carr (Brian) of Downingtown, PA, and Matthew Martin (Amanda) of Wilmington, DE; grandchildren, Emma Rose Carr of Denver, CO, Aidan P Carr of West Chester, PA, Brendan A Carr of Downingtown PA, Jasmine C. Aiken, of Wilmington DE, Andrea Aiken of Wilmington, DE, and Adrian M Aiken of Chesapeake, MD; great grandchild, Caius Aiken of Chesapeake, MD; and brothers, Michael Lorello of Lakewood Ranch, FL, and Robert (Bob) Lorello of Upper Darby, PA.
She was preceded in death by her father Charles Lorello, her mother Catherine Rose Devlin Lorello, brother Charles Lorello, and his daughter Patricia Catherine Martin.
Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on July 11th, from 10:00 am – 10:45 am at St. Agnes Church, 233 West Gay Street West Chester PA 19380, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:00 am.
Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery West Chester, PA.
