Karen L. Cassidy

Karen Cassidy (Kelly) age 70, of Cheyney, wife of John (Jack) Cassidy, passed away Thursday, June 12, 2025 at the Chester County Hospital in West Chester PA.

Born January 31, 1955 in West Chester, PA, she was the daughter of the late Alvy L. Kelly and the late Adelyene Izzi Kelly.

Karen found happiness in the simple joys of life: gardening in the sunshine, cooking meals filled with love, hosting unforgettable parties and above all, being a devoted mother to her boys. Her warmth, generosity and unconditional love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Karen was a lifelong resident of West Chester, Pennsylvania, a proud graduate of Henderson High School Class of 1973 and Temple University class of 1978. Karen began her career as a dental hygienist, caring for each patient with kindness for over a decade. She later brought that same warmth to the family business, Kelly Sports. In her final working years, Karen found true joy as a school bus driver. She loved getting to know the children and families in her community, always offering a smile, a kind word and a little extra love with every ride. She volunteered her time at the Westchester Area Sports Association, building the “Field of Dreams” alongside her family. Her love and compassion carried through to the animals she had around her, providing a home for dogs whose owners were overseas serving our country. Saying goodbye to Karen is not easy, but we find comfort in the memories she leaves behind and the way she made everyone feel like family. Her spirit lives on in the kindness she shared and the joy she brought to everyone around her.

Surviving along with her husband are two sons, John and Shawn; sister, Doreen Kelly and brother Steven (Donna) Kelly.

Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on Friday June 27 from 12:30 to 2:15 P.M at St. Agnes Parish, 233 W. Gay St., West Chester, PA 19380 followed by her Funeral Mass at 2:30 P.M.

Interment will be private.
